Celebrating Fall

My heart is a room 
with an open window;
the autumn wind 
is freezing it
from the inside-

leaves slip in
to fill the void.

Still shining
     even though it’s falling
And there’s
     a warm breeze
And the sun
     That makes them shiny
Shines through the branches.

That breeze
     Makes the falling leaves twirl
About,
     Not quite down not quite up.
Although—
     Eventually it is down,

Dancing through 
     Clutching fingers
And landing
     On the ground
To dance about,
     Arm-in –arm
With that breeze
    And a suit
Of sunlight.
